Chicago Bears 27, Houston Texans 20

Preseason NFL Opener at Hall of Fame Game

The Chicago Bears emerged victorious in their preseason opener against the Houston Texans in the 2024 NFL Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, with a score of 27-20.

The Bears' offense was led by quarterback Justin Fields, who completed 10 of 15 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. Running back David Montgomery contributed 84 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

The Texans' offense, on the other hand, was paced by quarterback Davis Mills, who threw for 175 yards and a touchdown on 16 of 26 attempts. Running back Dameon Pierce impressed with 100 rushing yards on 20 carries, including a 6-yard touchdown run.

The Bears' defense forced two turnovers, including an interception by safety Eddie Jackson and a fumble recovery by linebacker Roquan Smith, which they capitalized on with touchdowns. The Texans' defense also came up with an interception, with cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. picking off Fields in the first quarter.

The game was played under a steady downpour, which affected both teams' passing attacks. However, the Bears were able to adjust and execute their game plan more effectively, ultimately securing the victory.
