Former DB Aaron Grymes Retires from the CFL to Join the Elks as Assistant Coach

Aaron Grymes, a veteran defensive back in the Canadian Football League (CFL), has officially retired from playing and will be joining the Edmonton Elks as an assistant coach.

Grymes, 31, played 12 seasons in the CFL, spending time with the BC Lions, Montreal Alouettes, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He made 454 tackles, 34 interceptions, and five forced fumbles during his playing career.

Grymes was a key member of the Lions' 2011 Grey Cup championship team and was named a CFL All-Star in 2016. He also represented Canada in international competition at the 2015 Pan American Games, winning a silver medal.

After retiring from playing, Grymes expressed his excitement about joining the Elks' coaching staff.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Elks as an assistant coach," Grymes said. "I have always been passionate about football, and I am eager to share my knowledge and experience with the next generation of players."

Elks head coach Chris Jones praised Grymes' work ethic and leadership qualities.

"Aaron is a great addition to our coaching staff," Jones said. "He is a hard worker, a great leader, and a proven winner. I know he will be a valuable asset to our team."

Grymes will be responsible for coaching the Elks' defensive backs. He will also assist with special teams.
