Shelley Duvall, who died Thursday at the age of 75, made her film debut in Robert Altman's 1970 film Brewster McCloud. Duvall went on to have roles in numerous films by Altman throughout the 1970s including the period Western film McCabe & Mrs. Miller the satirical masterpiece MASH and the ensemble comedy The Player.
Duvall was born in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1949. She began her career as a model before transitioning to acting. In addition to her work with Altman, Duvall also appeared in films by Stanley Kubrick, Woody Allen, and Tim Burton. She is perhaps best known for her role as Wendy Torrance in Kubrick's 1980 horror classic The Shining.
Duvall's later years were marked by personal struggles, including mental health issues. She retired from acting in 2002 and lived a private life until her death.
